Lawrence Whitten & Son was an architecture firm founded by Lawrence Whitten in 1950. He soon added his son, James to the partnership. The firm was known for its modernist designs, including the 18-story Bank for Savings Building in downtown Birmingham. Whitten & Son moved their offices to the 15th floor of that building after its completion in 1962.
Lawrence Whitten died in 1968. His son continued the practice for a few years afterward.
