Leo Shaia and his brother J. L., took over Shaia's on 18th Street in downtown Homewood from their father, A. J. Shaia in the 1970s, and transformed it into a notable men's clothier.

J. L.'s nephew, Ken is the fourth generation of Shaia's to work in the family business.
