The Losel Maitri Tibetan Buddhist Center is a congregation of Buddhists located in Cahaba Heights located at 3224 Green Valley Road. Earlier (in 2014) it was located at 3118 Belwood Drive in Cahaba Heights. Since 2002 it has been headed by Spiritual Director and Resident Teacher Tenzin Deshek, a graduate of the Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies in Dharamshala, India.
Each July the group holds a potluck supper in celebration of the birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama.
