Marc Phillips is a local Birmingham musician and songwriter. He has been the vocalist for the bands Hotel, Split the Dark, Boardgames, Mr. Lucky and many others. He has written many songs recorded by national artists. He is the co-owner, with Joel Bouchillon, of AIRWAVE Recording Studios in Homewood [1].

In March 2005, morning radio DJ's Rick and Bubba hosted PhillipsFest after Marc was diagnosed with throat cancer and was mounting substantial medical debt from the treatments. PhillipsFest was held at the Alabama Theatre on 3rd Avenue North in downtown Birmingham. The event included reunions of locally based bands, featuring Brother Cane, Telluride, Locust Fork, along with Rick and Bubba's band Mr. Lucky. The event helped to raise around $50,000.[2].
