The New Jefferson County Citizens Coalition is a political organization founded in 2009 by former Mayor of Birmingham Richard Arrington, Jr, former U. S. Representative Earl Hilliard, and others. Arrington had previously headed the Jefferson County Citizens Coalition, a group that continues in a role much diminished from its heyday in the 1980s and 1990s.

The new group was launched with an eye toward supporting candidates in the 2009 Birmingham City Council election and the 2011 Birmingham mayoral election. Arrington hinted that if no other candidate steps forward to challenge incumbent Larry Langford in 2011, that he would consider entering the race himself.
