1211 27th Place South is a professional office building at the corner of 27th Place South and Highland Avenue, currently housing the a clinic and the headquarters offices of Planned Parenthood of Alabama.
The building was constructed in 1960 as the Professional Building housing the diagnostic clinics of Doctors Charles Crow, John Crow and Leon Smelo. The 5,000 square foot project was developed by MCM Corporation, designed by Greer, Holmquist & Chambers and constructed for $150,000 by W. R. Lunsford. The brown brick ranch-style office featured plate glass windows and brick planters, as well as on-site parking for patients behind a brick retaining wall.
