The Legendary Pineapple Skinners are a New Orleans-style jazz quintet based in Birmingham. The band was formed in 1997 by Tony Lombardo and Tom Dameron.
The group also includes Chuck King, Mike Cogan, and Sam Ranelli Jr.
The group plays regularly at The Club, and performed at 2008 City Stages. The group's name comes from an episode of The Andy Griffith Show, where Barney purchases a pineapple skinner for his sweetheart Thelma Lou.
