The Pizitz Building is the former flagship department store for Pizitz, located at 1821 2nd Avenue North. The eight-story 225,000 square-foot building has an attached parking deck, which was constructed in 1965.
The building was purchased in 2000 by Bayer Properties, which has applied for historic building tax credits as part of a planned redevelopment of the building into retail and office space. In April 2009 Bayer applied for a $1 million low-interest loan from the City of Birmingham to enable it to develop the building for retail and office uses.
