Yarbrough has bachelor's and master's degrees from Jacksonville State University. He served as assistant tax assessor for the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County from 2008 to 2009 and ran unsuccessfully for Hoover City Council. Yarbrough's brother, Robert is president of YCater, operator of concession stands at the BJCC Coliseum and director of the Jefferson County Democratic Party.
