Yarbrough has bachelor's and master's degrees from Jacksonville State University. He ran unopposed in the 2008 general election for assistant tax assessor for the Bessemer Division of Jefferson County, and served from from 2008 to 2009. He ran unsuccessfully for Hoover City Council. Yarbrough's brother, Robbie is president of Yarbrough Companies which operates concession stands at the BJCC Coliseum and Legion Field.
