SouthPoint Bank is a Birmingham-based bank which opened in October 2005 with a branch at 3500 Colonnade Parkway, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 and Interstate 459 in Birmingham. A second branch will open in November 2006 in Trussville near the intersection of Deerfoot Parkway and U.S. Highway 11. The bank has plans to expand into the cities of Gardendale, Chelsea, and Pelham or Alabaster. Steve Smith is president and CEO of the bank which was formed by former SouthTrust Bank employees after the merger with Wachovia.
