The Southside Ball Association is a Little League baseball and tee-ball organization founded at Avondale Park in 1953.
In its first year, the association's baseball team defeated a team from Schenectady, New York to claim the 1953 Little League World Series title in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
That team was made up pitcher Joe Sims, catcher Joe Mack Thaxton, infielders Jim Hicks, Percy Goodwin, Anthony Cherry and Bruce Gordon, outfielders Joe Johnson, Dickie DeRoberts, and Ken McCain. Other members of the team included Ed Donahoo, Richard Green, Ralph Boyer, Hugh Oliver, Roy Stricklin and Bradley Wideman. John Creamer and Emmet Goodwin were the team managers.
The league is currently affiliated with Dizzy Dean Baseball, Inc.
