St John Cassian Orthodox Chapel is a congregation of the Eastern American Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia located at 1731 13th Street North in Bessemer. The community purchased this building in October 2020. It was erected in 1959 as a Church of God. After extensive renovations, the first services where held in the new church on February 6, 2022. The congregation previously met in the home of one of its members in Shelby County.

St John Cassian is a chapel of Glorious Ascension Monestary in Resaca, Georgia. It is served by its chaplain, the Rev. Justinian Burnett who was ordained in New York City on March 7. 2021.
