**but actually, the trains i was referring to were the ones before the steam ones: [http://www.birminghamrewound.com/postcardfront.JPG http://www.birminghamrewound.com/postcardfront.JPG]  so i guess these ran from 1957-1976.  according to [http://www.birminghamrewound.com/fun-and-games.htm B'ham Rewound], they're in line to be restored at the [http://railga.com/ondispl/serrmu.html Southeastern Railway Museum] in Georgia.  i'm going to add that into the B'ham Zoo Express, if that's alright.--[[User:Sagefats|fats]] 20:47, 23 July 2007 (PDT)

Defunct Exhibits

Should we have a subheading for defunct exhibits? For instance, the bears exhibit is gone, and Monkey Island is now for ducks and swans.

Also, I am curious if someone knows what happened to the bear moat, when was it demolished? Are there plans to get some more bears in the future? How about elephants? All questions I will email the zoo as well, but if someone knows the answer, holler back. fats 15:49, 23 July 2007 (PDT)

  • Last I heard the zoo director was being a bit cagey (no pun intended) about future plans for the elephant exhibit. My recollection is that it sounded like elephants were definitely in their plans and to expect an announcement about upcoming exhibit changes sometime in August. --Dystopos 17:28, 23 July 2007 (PDT)

B'ham Zoo Express

Does anyone know anything about the current train or the original train? Seems like I've seen pictures of the original train having been restored somewhere, but I can't remember. Could be an interesting addition to the article if we can find out about it. I know the current conductor is an actual retired big train conductor [1]. fats 15:49, 23 July 2007 (PDT)

Wikipedia Article

It has a little bit more updated info, particularly in "Today" and "Attractions/Exhibits," but I'm not sure of the protocol of updating the B'hamWiki with info from Wikipedia - should we use it? Wikipedia doesn't have sources listed on its article either [2]. fats 15:49, 23 July 2007 (PDT)

  • We're already citing Wikipedia as a source, so updating information and updating the permalink in the reference is perfectly kosher. Use your best judgment about merging. --Dystopos 17:26, 23 July 2007 (PDT)
