Vova Nova was a short-lived hard funk band. The band's sound was born when members of Forecast (Glen Butts, Milton Davis, Libba Walker and Mark Lanter) were influenced by a Red Hot Chili Peppers performance at The Nick. They scored a recording contract with Chameleon Records, but bristled at the limitations placed on them by label executives and were dropped after a year and a half. Afterward the group returned to playing older songs and began playing, with a slightly different line-up, as The Cast.
