Yawntreshia L. Coleman (born c. 1982 in Hampton Roads, Virginia) is the founder of Magic City Food Tours and serves on the Birmingham Public Library Board of Trustees.
Coleman's father served in the U.S. Navy and the family moved frequently. She graduated from Salem Virginia High School in 1999 and earned her business degree at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia in 2004. She met her husband, Larry Coleman II, online while she was in college and he was working at the Norfolk Naval Base. They were married in 2002 and moved to Birmingham, his home town, after the birth of their first daughter in 2005.
Coleman worked as an accountant for a major retailer before joining WATS Tax Service in Roebuck as a partner. She opened a consulting bookkeeping business, Coleman and Company. in 2008
Coleman was a candidate for District 2 in the 2009 Birmingham City Council election, challenging incumbent Carol Duncan and five others. Coleman's campaign platform included improving communication, providing youth activities, encouraging community retail and economic revitalization and expanding education opportunities. She finished last in the seven-way race.
The experience opened doors in community service and she has since served on the boards of McCoy Adult Day Care, SWEET Alabama, and Rise Against Hunger, and also recruited volunteer teams for Railroad Park through the YWCA.
In 2016 and 2017 Coleman had two more daughters, accompanied by health complications. She also became a caregiver for her father in 2020. She saw the opportunity to launch a business from home organizing food events, including scavenger hunts, tasting parties, and luxury picnics.
