Young & Vann Supply Company was formed in 1906 by I. F. Young and James Vann and operated as suppliers to blast furnaces and rolling miles, along with the coal and iron mines in Jefferson county. In 1912 they rented a building at 1725–1731 1st Avenue North that they rented from the Anheuser-Busch Company of St. Louis in, who had built the building around 1888 as a distribution center. Young and Vann bought the building in 1925.
