Lots vs Zones

  • How often does UAB change its nomenclature? I was looking for the name of the lot on the site where the UAB Student Organization Facility was constructed. On Google Streetview, you can see signs calling it "Lot 07B" in 2015, with an additional "Lot 07" in red below it in 2019. Those were replaced by "Zone 7" with "7-4" below it in 2020. --Dystopos (talk) 08:23, 17 August 2023 (PDT)
    • The Zone system was implemented to reduce the time students have to spend searching for available spaces, while offering higher and lower cost parking options. Parking facilities are grouped by proximity to various areas of campus. I'm not sure exactly what year it was introduced, but it's been in the last couple of years and applies primarily to student lots.
