Fourth Avenue Carwash

The Fourth Avenue Carwash — sometimes simply called "The Carwash" was a Birmingham-based comedy performance group founded by Courtney Haden and Greg Bass. The scripted shows featured numerous improvisational segments.

Haden once insisted that letterhead would establish the group's legitimacy. Extant envelopes give the mailing address as 726 23rd Street South, the original location of Boutwell Studios.

The Carwash once opened for Randy Newman in Tuscaloosa, and later performed at Birmingham Festival Theatre in Five Points South.
