Simsooty (died February 27, 1978 in Birmingham) was a male Nile hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) which was exhibited at the Birmingham Zoo for nearly 20 years.
Simsooty was born in the wild and captured in 1959. He arrived in Birmingham on May 6 of that year for exhibit in the Birmingham Zoo's Pachyderm Building. During his time in Birmingham he sired three young.
Simsooty died in February 1978. 1 year-old Tadpole came from the Houston Zoo in June 1979 to take his place.
