Donald Joshua Newman (born April 8, 1980 in Clanton, died March 5, 2011 in Thorsby) was a Jemison police officer.
Newman, a graduate of Chilton County High School, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Security Forces Specialist (military police).
Newman began working for the Jemison police department in December 2008, first as a reserve officer, then as a full-time officer beginning in April 2010. Newman was killed in a head-on collision with another car while responding to assist with an accident on U.S. Highway 31 north of Jemison in Thorsby.
Newman is survived by his wife Tracy and 4-year-old son Jace.
