The 2001 City Stages was the 13th annual edition of "Birmingham's World-Class Music Festival".
This years festival was moved to May in an attempt to secure milder weather and to make it easier to book national acts which often have their summer tours scheduled well in advance. Severe weather on Sunday evening delayed the performance of rapper Nelly to after midnight.
