Terri Michal

Terri Rector Michal (born c. 1965 in Indiana) is staff organizer for the Birmingham Federation of Teachers (American Federation of Teachers Local No. 2115). She is the founder and executive director of S.O.S. (Support Our Students) and co-chair of Moral Movement Alabama.

Michal attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She founded S.O.S. in 2012 and began working for the Birmingham Federation of Teachers in 2014.

Michal was elected to represent District 2 on the Birmingham Board of Education in the 2017 Birmingham municipal election. As a candidate for re-election in the 2021 Birmingham municipal election she pledge to expand workforce development and mental health programs.
