The Taylor Building at 9 20th Street North, is the headquarters for Superior Mortgage Corporation. It is located at the southeast corner of 20th Street North and Morris Avenue in the parking deck built by the City of Birmingham in 1999 for the adjacent John A. Hand Building. It is named for Jimmy Taylor, the former CEO of what is now Superior Bancorp, who was instrumental in getting the parking deck built. The space was vacant until 2008. In June 2007, Superior leased the space from the city in order to expand its mortgage division, which moved into the space in March 2008.
The site was the home of the Elyton Land Company.
