Gary Wheat (born March 12, 1977) is a jazz saxophonist based in Birmingham. He is a graduate of Huntsville's Virgil Grissom High School and of the University of Alabama. He is currently a professor of saxophone at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an active member of several local jazz groups including Meteorite, the Chad Fisher Group, the Carlos Pino Jazz Group, and Double Threat. He has played with the Temptations, the Four Tops, the O'Jays, Ruben Studdard, Cleveland Eaton, Johnny O'Neal and Lou Marini.
