Backwater was a jazz-fusion band based in Birmingham and active in the mid-1970s. Founding members included Larry Hardin, Robby Catlin, Trippe Thomason and Scott Pettersen. Hardin and Thomason left the group and were replaced by Tom and Myra Woodruff. The group's albums were recorded at New London Recording Center and released on the band's own Bongwater Records.
