The Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) is a Birmingham-based network of independent record stores which formed in 1995 to lobby major music labels to recognize their value in promotions, sales, and development. Former Magic Platter owner Don VanCleave was president from inception until 2009.
The group grew out of a meeting in San Francisco, California which was organized by Album Network magazine.
Oz Music in Tuscaloosa is the only local member store.
