2601 Highland Avenue

2601 Highland Avenue is a 2-story, 12,496 square-foot office building on Block 844, on the southeast corner of the intersection of Highland Avenue and Niazuma Avenue, opposite the 2600 Highland condominium tower and catty-corner from Caldwell Park.

The building was constructed in 1958 as offices for the Southern Medical Association. It later housed the Jefferson County Council on Aging and SenioRx pharmacy. The building is set on a sloping 1.07 acre plot with limestone retaining walls supporting the ground above the sidewalks. A ramp was cut into the ground to provide wheelchair access to the building. Those offices relocated to the United Way's Frances Spain Hodges Building in 2016. The empty building was listed for sale in 2017.

In 2019 the building was purchased by Chris Reebals and renovated as the offices of his firm, Christopher Architecture & Interiors. The renovation was awarded a "Citation" during AIA Birmingham's 2021 Honor Awards. Ownership of the property was transferred to Premium Property Trust, also founded by Reebals, in 2021.
