Bernice Shepherd (born 1914 - died November 2006) was the head of housekeeping at East End Hospital

She was, with her husband George, a long-time resident of the red house now used as the home of the Ruffner Mountain Nature Center. Through their support of the park, they eventually sold their home for use as the park's nature center. After George suffered a stroke, they moved to an apartment in Roebuck.

The park has plans to replace the existing house with a new nature center, which will be named the "Bernice and George Shepherd Education Pavilion" in their honor.
