Birmingham Earth Coalition is a Birmingham-based grassroots, community-driven environmental justice coalition..
Nina Morgan initiated a campaign to get 30,000 people in the streets for community actions in Birmingham during Earth Month in 2020. Through 2019 she expressed this goal to other organizers, which fostered the growth of a coalition of grassroots organizations ready to take local action for climate.
The coalition publicly launched on April 1, 2020, and hosted over a dozen virtual Earth Month events throughout the month, in coordination with the "Southern Spring" of the Southern People's Assembly. Politically, the coalition built support for the Gulf South for a Green New Deal policy platform.
