This coalition movement for environmental justice came into this world because [[Nina Morgan]] dreamed of getting 30,000 people in the streets for community actions in Birmingham, Alabama during Earth Month. Throughout the end of 2019, Morgan took this dream to other organizers igniting excitement and energy across the city. This desire for environmental justice grew into a coalition of grassroots organizations ready to take action and create the world we deserve—starting with our city.
[[Nina Morgan]] initiated a campaign with a vision to organize 30,000 people in the streets for community actions in Birmingham during Earth Month. Through [[2019]] she expressed this goal to other organizers, which fostered the growth of a coalition of grassroots organizations ready to take local action for climate justice.


The coalition publicly launched on April 1, 2020, and hosted over a dozen virtual Earth Month events in April 2020. Their work around Earth Month 2020 was launched as a part of the Southern Spring of the [[Southern People's Assembly]], and worked to uplift the [[Gulf South for a Green New Deal]] policy platform.
