The Birmingham-Jefferson History Museum is a collection of artifacts relating to the history of Birmingham and Jefferson County collected under the auspices of the Birmingham-Jefferson Historical Society with Marvin Whiting as curator. According to the organization's web site, the museum's mission is "to collect historic artifacts of Jefferson County, Alabama from its earliest time to the present in order to save these from loss, destruction, and discard; to exhibit to the general public including school children by providing educational exhibits, programs and experiences."

The museum was incorporated as a separate entity in 2004. Since then it has been housed temporarily housed in a 1,600 square foot space at 12 Office Park in the Mountain Brook Office Park while organizers pursue plans for a permanent home.

In May 2008 the museum announced that it would purchase the former Regions Investment Company building at 2011 4th Avenue North for $725,000. The two-story, 12,800 square-foot building was constructed in the early 20th century and will be refurbished before the museum opens, possibly as early as 2009.
