The Birmingham Large Users Group (BLUG) is an organization of users of large (mainframe) computers in the Birmingham area. It began with a series of lunch meetings at the Downtown Club with representatives of [{Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama]], SouthTrust Bank, Sonat, BellSouth, Liberty Nationa, UAB, Jim Walter Corporation and AmSouth Bank.

The group was incorporated as a non-profit with the mission of promoting cooperation between large computer users. Its primary role has been in establishing high-level training for the staffs of member companies. Membership is open to the top information officer in any organization with an information technology staff of 25 of more. Meetings are currently held at The Club.
