March 1966 issue

Birmingham magazine is the monthly lifestyle magazine which debuted in the fall of 1918 and is currently published by Birmingham News Multimedia. It has been published in two editions.

The original Birmingham magazine did not survive the Great Depression. It was re-launched in December 1961 under the auspices of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. After the chamber merged with other groups into the Birmingham Business Alliance it sought a buyer for the magazine. The News took over effective October 31, 2011. On Oct. 1, 2012, the magazine became part of the newly formed Alabama Media Group, which also publishes The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times, and the (Mobile) Press-Register.

The current editorial staff includes Editor David Magee, Managing Editor Carla Jean Whitley and Curator Laura McAlister. Laura Buchanan is creative director and Pat Hooten is associate art director.
