Brantley is a Birmingham native who has a master's degree in architecture from Tuskegee University. He worked for Gresham Smith and Partners and for Atlanta management firm H. J. Russell & Co., which managed the renovations to Birmingham's Civil Rights District in the early 1990s, before founding his own company, working out of his dining room.
Though it courts clients across the region, Brantley Visioneering is primarily interested in the revitalization of downtown Birmingham. The company has been involved in the redevelopment of the City Federal Building, the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex expansion plans, and the Innovation Depot. It also managed construction of downtown's Railroad Park.
