Clifford Stiles was a one-time owner of the Redmont Hotel in downtown Birmingham and later president of the Alabama State Bridge Commission.
Stiles purchased the hotel in 1946 and added a penthouse apartment for himself and his family the following year.
In 1972 Stiles died and his widow moved to Florida. Some say he continues to haunt the hotel building -- walking the halls, moving objects and locking doors.
