Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc. (CNHI) is an information and media holding company founded in 1997. It owns newspapers, television stations, and web sites which serve 150 communities in the United States. At one time it employed more than 2,600 people and had over $520 million in annual revenue, placing it among the largest privately-owned companies in the region. It currently operates 68 daily newspapers along with more than 40 other newspapers and websites in 22 states.
Until 2011 the company was headquartered at 3500 Colonnade Parkway. A major financial backer of CNHI was the Retirement Systems of Alabama headed by David Bronner. When the RSA built a new 12-story office tower in downtown Montgomery in 2011, it recruited CNHI as a tenant, and the headquarters moved to the state capital.
CNHI was acquired by Raycom Media in 2017 and reorganized as a subsidiary LLC, and then bought outright by the RSA in early 2019.
