The Fifth Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church is the regional unit of the CME Church that based in Birmingham and encompasses the states of Alabama and Florida. The CME Church was formed on December 16, 1870 in Memphis, Tennessee, as the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church by formerly enslaved members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South (MECS) with the full suport of their White sponsors in the MECS. In 1954 the CME changed to its present name.

The current presiding bishop of the Fifth Episcopal District is Clarence Heath.

Miles College is a college of the CME Church.
