John Garrett (born 1943 in Birmingham) was a traffic engineer for the City of Birmingham from April 1, 1968 to January 19, 2007.

Garrett is a graduate of Phillips High School and the University of Alabama. He came to the city from the Alabama Department of Transportation. He said that he learned to drive in the parking lot of the A&P Grocery at 18th Street and 8th Avenue North.

Garrett and his wife, Betty Goggans married in 1965. They have two children, Karen and Brian.
