Newman, a graduate of [[Chilton County High School]] and veteran of the US Air Force, had been an employee of the [[Jemison]] PD since December [[2008]], first as a reserve officer and then as a full-time officer since April [[2010]]. Newman was killed in a head-on collision with another car while responding to assist with an accident on [[U. S. Highway 31]] north of Jemison in Thorsby.

Donald Joshua Newman (born April 8, 1980 in Clanton, died March 5, 2011 in Thorsby) was a Jemison police officer.

Newman, a graduate of Chilton County High School, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Security Forces Specialist (military police).
