Kathy Kemp

Kathy Kemp (born c. 1955; died November 9, 2010) was an award-winning journalist and author, best known in Birmingham for her columns for the Birmingham Post-Herald and the Birmingham News. She is the author of three books published by Crane Hill Publishers and has contributed to People and The New York Times.

Kemp graduated from West End High School and studied journalism at UAB. She worked for the New Haven Register in Connecticut before returning to Birmingham to work at the Post-Herald. She received the 2006 "Story of the Year" award from the Alabama Press Association. She has been inducted into the Scripps Howard Newspapers Editorial Hall of Fame.

Kemp was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer in 2002. She died in 2010.
