Kenneth Coleman
Kenneth E. Coleman (born February 6, 1967 in Jersey City, New Jersey) is the president and CEO of the Birmingham Business Alliance.
Coleman earned his bachelor's degree at the University of New Haven in Connecticut and a master's in business administration from the University of Alabama.
Coleman began playing professional baseball in 1989 with the Gulf Coast White Sox in Sarasota, Florida. He advanced to the Sarasota White Sox the following season, and spent three years there before he was promoted to the Birmingham Barons in 1993. In 50 games as a utility infielder that year, Coleman batted .233 with 30 hits and 14 runs batted in. He appeared in 75 games for the Barons during the 1994 season, but his averaged dropped to .191 with 36 hits and 25 runs batted in. Coleman was traded and spent the 1995 season with the Southern League's Orlando Cubs.
After leaving baseball, Coleman began working in business and economic development, and joined Birmingham's Metropolitan Development Board. He began working for Georgia Power in 1999, working on development of solar generation projects and a "Smart Cities" partnership with the City of Atlanta. Over the next 25 years he served in a range of positions for Southern Company, including engagement, regulatory, legislative and policy work, as well as brand identity and economic development. He led Southern Company's Pivotal Home Solutions subsidiary. He was loaned by Southern Company to serve as interim president and CEO of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce.
Coleman and his wife, Coleman have two sons, Kamden and Kyle.
