Lone Pine Mines was a set of iron ore mines operated by the Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Company on the northern slope of Red Mountain near Lone Pine Gap.
Lone Pine Mine No. 3 was actively mined in 1907. The mine portal is still visible beneath Vulcan Park. The mine entrance was sealed until 2020, when the park installed a grate, along with lighting, props and interpretive signage.
