Mary Kate is the daughter of Johnny and Augusta Bush of Birmingham. She then completed a master degree in finance at the University of Chicago in [[1971]].

Mary Kate Bush (born April 9, 1948 in Birmingham) is a finance consultant and former U.S. official and U.S. Representative to the International Monetary Fund.

Mary Kate is the daughter of Johnny and Augusta Bush, who moved to Birmingham from Uniontown, Perry County. In 1988 Bush joined the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) as vice president of international finance. She was promoted to managing director of the Federal Home Loan Bank System's Federal Housing Finance Board in 1989. In 1991 she left to found a global consultancy, "Bush International LLC". Through that firm she has advised the governments of Bulgaria, South Korea, the Philippines, and Singapore.
