Matthew's in November 2008

Matthew's Bar & Grill is a barbecue restaurant located at 2208 Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham's Loft District. The restaurant, which opened in August 2007, occupies the lower level of the Fanaei Building (formerly Slater Sales), which was purchased by Matthew Fanaei and his son, Kavon Fanaei.

Kavon's sister, Kayla, a psychology student at UAB, worked at the restaurant when it first opened. She was found murdered near campus in October 2007.

Matthew's is used a venue during ArtWalk and various other festivals which take place in the Loft District and Downtown, including Southern disComfort.
