Melba Cafeteria in 1939

The Melba Cafeteria was a restaurant and nightclub located behind the Empire Building at 108 20th Street North in the 1930s and 1940s.

The restaurant served meals cafeteria style from a steam table on the mezzanine. Strawberry shortcake was offered for free to patrons each noon and midnight. Beginning in April 1940 organist Vernon Geyer was booked as a regular performer.
