The USS Hephaestus (NCC-2004) is the Birmingham area chapter, part of Region 2 of STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc., an international Star Trek fan organization. A non-profit organization, STARFLEET encourages members to take part in charitable fund-raising activities and other public services. The club's current commanding officer is MarkAdam Miller.
Each chapter of STARFLEET takes on the name of a fictional starship, space station, or other vessel in the Star Trek universe.
