Bryan Peeples
Bryan Lane Peeples (born c. 1979 in Auburn) is a territory manager for Heartland Payment Systems of Princeton, New Jersey, a business consultant, and a Republican candidate in the special election for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions appointment to serve as U.S. Attorney General.
Peeples lived in several states as he was growing up. He returned to Alabama in 1995 to assist his grandmother, who was president of the Republican Women of the South and served as a delegate to the 1988 Republican National Convention. He was sued by Discover Bank for non-payment of credit card debt in 2005. He disputed the case on the grounds that he was a victim of identity theft, but that claim was disputed by the plaintiff, and the case ended with a default judgment against Peeples. The judgment was certified as settled in February 2017. Peeples worked as a manager for various start-ups before the Great Recession. Following the crash he bussed tables.
In June 2008 Peeples became general manager at Jinsei in Homewood. He left in 2012 to work as chief operating officer at business development firm Aegis Foundry. He began his present role with Heartland Payment Systems in 2016. Meanwhile, he has headed his own consulting firm, Peeples Consulting, since 2008.
As a candidate, Peeples pledged to work "across the aisle" and to seek tax reform legislation supporting small and mid-sized businesses and a law or constitutional amendment limiting terms of office for members of Congress. He also hopes to increase awareness of and protections against cybercrime.
