Category talk:Churches in Mountain Brook

• I just created the subcategory "Churches formerly in Mountain Brook." Do we want to do that here and elsewhere? I added one closed church to this category and recategorized one church that had moved out. The denominational categorization of churches distinguishes between former and current churches.   • Yeah, that's a good question. If Mountain Brook only ever had 1 or 2 former churches, I would just say they were "former churches" and "churches in Mountain Brook". If there are 3 dozen of them, then breaking out the category makes sense. Anywhere in between is just what you feel like doing any given time. At least that's how I've approached such things before. The next question is the distinction between "Former churches in Mountain Brook" and "Churches formerly in Mountain Brook". Seems useful to be able to account for relocations here, and endings under the denominational tree. --Dystopos (talk) 14:55, 23 May 2023 (PDT)
    • Right. Endings under the denominational tree makes sense. While the phrase isn't exactly clear, I was thinking "Churches formerly in Mountain Brook" might cover both churches that relocated and churches that just closed. Someone interested in the history of churches in Mountain Brook would want to know both. But in anycase, I'm not going to be doing a lot of this category editing in the near future.David Bains (talk) 13:04, 24 May 2023 (PDT)
