David Shores
David Shores (born c. 1976) is a former head football coach for the Spain Park High School Jaguars and an administrative assistant for Hoover City Schools.
Shores graduated from Elmore County High School in 1994. He played for the Auburn Tigers football team in 1996 and 1997 and then worked as a student assistant in 1998. He continued as a graduate assistant for Tommy Tuberville's first season before taking a job on Spence McCracken's staff at Opelika High School.
Shores joined Rush Propst's staff at Hoover High School in 2002. He went to LSU to work for Nick Saban's staff in 2004, but returned to the area in 2005 as defensive coordinator at Pelham High School for two years.
Shores was Spain Park's defensive coordinator under John Grass, helping the 2007 team reach the 6A championship game in the AHSAA playoffs. The Jaguars compiled a 10-3 record in 2009 and reached the quarterfinals of the AHSAA playoffs.
During a practice session on August 24, 2010 Shores got into a physical altercation with a player. He was placed on administrative leave and subsequently agreed to a transfer off the field and into the central office as assistant athletics director for the remainder of the school year. Assistant Ben Berguson assumed the interim role of head coach for the 2010 season until Chip Lindsey was hired that December.
